There are eleven criteria headings which are directly taken from OFSTED’s common inspection framework for further education. Four of these relate to ‘OUTCOMES FOR LEARNERS’, the remaining seven relate to ‘QUALITY OF TEACHING, LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT’

Key short terms featured mentioned within the OFTSED common inspection framework have been identified, together with key terms relating to the field of Quality. This is designed a quick reference tool and to widen understanding of terminology used in this area.

Each of the eleven OFTSED criteria then has a series of ‘Indicators’, or statements of practice. These show examples for how the criteria might be enacted in practice. Since the purpose of the standard is to describe a journey, the statements of practice are related to three stages of development,  described below.
